Vidro: Upp Till Dans 7"
International hardcore punks VIDRO have blessed us with yet another slab. Upon returning home to Stockholm from a string of US dates, VIDRO returned to the studio so belt out yet another session of their raging yet eclectic take on the ever-mutating art form that is hardcore punk. Released earlier this year by the band across the pond, Beach Impediment is proud to yet again spread the works of this powerhouse of a group in the North American region. Each record comes in a stunning risograph sleeve designed by the band's own guitarist and designer Lucas Lima.
Our take: Stockholm, Swedenās Vidro follows up their 2023 full-length Glƶd with a brand new 4-song EP on Beach Impediment Records. The title track, āUpp Till Dans,ā is first, and I think itās one of Vidroās best songs. The main riff is different for them, a chunky fist-pumper that really comes alive in the second verse when they throw in these super cool accents on the off beats. Itās a bit like Judas Priestās āBreakinā the Law,ā and just as infectious. The second track, āAllt Brinner,ā is one of Vidroās most brutal and straightforward songs, feeling super lean at 71 seconds long, but still making room for a bunch of dramatic rhythmic accents. The two tracks on the b-side spread out a little more, the rhythm section laying down heavy grooves while the vocals jab and dodge and the guitars waft, melodies lilting like an untethered balloon. Itās over in a flash, but thereās so much to hear that you canāt resist starting it again from the top. A brief but vital missive from one of todayās most distinctive and exciting bands.
