In October 2017,Ā The BreedersĀ announced their return to 4AD, along with a new album, All Nerve, released in March 2018. The label is also reissuing their previous four albums on vinyl includingĀ PodĀ (1990),Ā Last SplashĀ (1993),Ā Title TKĀ (2002) andĀ Mountain BattlesĀ (2008). Though ostensibly a side project of The Pixies' Kim Deal and Throwing Muses' Tanya Donelly,Ā The Breeders'Ā debut,Ā Pod, has held up as a classic of late 80s/early 90s off-kilter alternative pop, surpassing the contemporaneous work of their main bands. Though Deal would really hit the big time three years later with theĀ Breeders'Ā follow-up,Ā Last Splash, and Donelly would do the same with her next band, Belly,Ā PodĀ is the band's finest, most coherent album and perhaps the high point in both of their careers. Engineering byĀ Steve AlbiniĀ and Kurt Cobain citing it as one of his favorite records certainly doesn't hurt matters either.
