The debut EP from Bakersfield’s So Real is a five-track burst of emotive,indie rock that feels like it was pulled straight from a well-worn time capsule. It channels the late-’90s moment when bands like Broken Hearts Are Blue and The Get Up Kids shook everything up—when vulnerability met driving rhythms and changed the sound of underground rock for good. Call it Midwest Emo, call it heart-on-sleeve indie—either way, So Real carry that spirit proudly out of Bakersfield (and honestly, is that really a surprise?).
