SmertegrĂŠnsens Toldere: S/T 7"
Angry old men playing hc punk.
7 tracks 7 minutes.
Feat. members of blabla and the blablablas..
Our take: Denmark's SmertegrĂŠnsens Toldere features Mads from Cola Freaks on vocals, but if youâre expecting the moody, nervy punk that Cola Freaks played youâll be disappointed, because SmertegrĂŠnsens Toldere are a pretty straightforward hardcore band. That being said, they are a hardcore band that displays much of the proclivity for inventive and interesting songwriting that was apparent in Cola Freaksâ music. It doesnât sound like SmertegrĂŠnsens Toldere are at any pains to sound particularly retro, nor are they trying to be particularly current or forward-thinking. The result is a thick, heavy sound that kind of reminds me of the faster bands on Youth Attack Records (i.e. itâs a sound thatâs steeped in 80s hardcore but doesnât try to recreate it), only with catchier and ultimately more memorable vocals than a lot of those types of bands have. Itâs a pedal to the metal rager for sure, but once you pay attention youâll hear some really catchy and memorable songwriting. Recommended for those of you who like your meat and potatoes hardcore with just a little bit of gravy.
