People's Temple: I'm With The... 7"
8 tracks crammed onto 7 inches.. You do the math. Snotty hardcoreĀ from a bandĀ thatĀ claimsĀ toĀ hateĀ AmericanĀ hardcore.
You'reĀ eitherĀ withĀ them,Ā orĀ againstĀ them.Ā WhereĀ do youĀ stand?
Our take: Roach Leg released Peopleās Templeās demo tape a couple of years ago, now theyāre back with their debut, which crams eight songs onto a 7ā, a move I canāt help but love. As with their demo tape, Peopleās Temple is unique among Roach Leg bands in that they sound like an 80s California punk band (theyāre actually from New York)⦠theyāre hard and fast, but with catchy choruses, making me think of bands like Sick Pleasure and Circle One. Thatās true for āThink for Me,ā which starts the EP and is the recordās highlight with its anthemic chorus on which the vocalist locks in with the bandās dramatic punches. I also love āJangling Tune,ā whose last section makes me think about the beach at sunset. The last tune is called āAmerican Hardcore Sucks,ā which is a head-scratcher given their sound, but whatever⦠Iām still firmly with the Peopleās Temple.
