Hunx and His Punx: Walk Out On This World 12"
Hunx and His Punx, the California punk outfit featuring Seth Bogart, Shannon Shaw, and Erin Emslie, return with their first album in 12 years, Walk Out On This World, out August 22, 2025, via Get Better Records. Known for their glam-punk attitude and ties to the queercore and garage rock scenes, the band originally released three celebrated records between 2010 and 2013 before taking a hiatus. Since reuniting in 2019, things felt like a dream: playing John Watersâ birthday party, touring with Bikini Kill, and opening for The B-52s. But the road to this new album was anything but easy.
On August 16, 2022, the same day their single âWhite Lipstickâ dropped on Sub Pop, Shannonâs fiancĂ© and longtime friend of the band, Joe Haener, was tragically killed in a car accident. Devastated, the group paused work on the album for over a year. Shannon turned to her band, Shannon and the Clams, for solace and eventually relocated to LA to be closer to Seth and Erin. There, the band found new creative purpose, writing their first songs about grief, including âRainy Day in LAâ and the title track, âWalk Out On This World.â
But tragedy struck again when the Eaton Fires tore through Altadena on January 7, 2025, destroying Sethâs neighborhood and contaminating the space where much of the record was written. Once again, the band delayed the albumâs release.
Now, after loss, fire, and years of resilience, Hunx and His Punx are back. 'Walk Out On This World'4 is a wild, emotional ride through grief, survival, and glamor at the end of the world. As Seth puts it: âIf itâs the end of the world, I want to have some fun.â
