Guilt Parade: Guilted Palace of Sin 7"
âLooking at the cover of âGuilted Palace of Sin,â the new Guilt Parade EP, youâll notice the emphasis on the word âsin;â itâs emblazoned in a stamplike, serif font and positioned dead center. Sin is just as easy to find off the cover. Guilt Parade, a hardcore punk band from Washington DC, spends the short time on their record railing against societyâs most egregious and incessant sins â war, greed, power â over jagged guitar riffs and D-beat drums to create chaotic yet tight songs of opposition for the modern era.â -Ned Russin
Our take: Debut vinyl from this DC hardcore band featuring a bunch of scene veterans. While there are obvious influences from the worlds of Scandinavian and Japanese hardcore (Framtidâs density and TotalitĂ€râs catchy riffing style come to mind), I think what makes Guilt Parade unique is their ability to light up the dance floor with a crushing mid-paced part. âVictim Insane,â âB.B.T.B.,â and âG.P. (Reprise)â sound like a wall of death coming right at you, and as with Torso these moments serve as a reprieve from the all out attack. Bruising.
