Satelite City Punk Rockers: Live At Hip 70 7" flexi
Hereās a record Iām very proud and excited to announce, a reissue of one of the obscurest tapes in my collection.
The Satelite City Punk Rockers!!! -as their name indicates- were a short-lived power trio formed in Ciudad SatĆ©lite (State of Mexico) in the late 70ās, part of the very first wave of Mexican punk along with bands like Dangerous Rhythm, Plastic Cocks, Size, RebelāD Punk, The Vomits, The Casuals and Hospital X (band whose 7ā was also previously reissued by this label).
In the few months they were around they didnāt play more than two or three shows at house parties, and this one where these two tracks were taken from. Both tracks were recorded live in 1979 at the legendary venue and record store Hip 70, the birthplace of Mexican punk and also a key place for the Mexico City underground scene during the years of Mexicoās ban on rock & roll.
This might be the second oldest Mexican punk recording (after the mighty Dangerous Rhythm debut 7ā) and the very first recording of a female-fronted Mexican punk (and possibly latin punk) band ever.
Two catchy and dope af tracks of ā77 style punk rock/power-pop, for fans of Nasty Facts, The Gymslips, The Brat, Kleenex, Chin Chin and Kenny & The Electrics!!
I was in charge of remastering this! Limited to 200 copies.
[Just as a curiosity: several years after SCPRās formation, despite the fact that the band remained largely unknown to many people til today, āPunk rocker de Ciudad SatĆ©liteā (Satelite City punk rocker) became some kind of derogatory term used by the hardcore kids from the ghettos to refer to all middle and upper class punks in the scene, since Ciudad SatĆ©lite was back then one of the richest neighborhoods in the Mexico Cityās metropolitan area.]
